I offer therapy for teens and adolescents in my Portland, OR location only. I have special experience and knowledge working with teens who might identify with any of the following words (but not limited to the following):
gender questioning, gender fabulous, agender, gender queer
femme, trans feminine
trans masculine
androgynous
queer, lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, gray sexual
I spent 4 years working in a residential, dual diagnosis treatment center for teenagers struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues. I have experience helping teenagers navigate the rough waters of adolescence that can be both exciting and terrifying. Issues around fitting in, struggling with bullying, self worth, and finding one’s identity can be so challenging while simultaneously trying to juggle the pressures of preparing for college and/or impending independence. This can be confusing and often the last person a teenager wants to or feels they can turn to is a parent. Having one caring and engaged adult who is non biased and outside of the family unit can often permanently shift the course of life at this crucial turning point.
Issues I treat with teens in my practice include:
self worth, self esteem
neurodiversity, autism spectrum
questions and confusion about sexuality or gender identity
issues with substance use
bullying
general anxiety and depression
